When is ICSI usually Suggested?

ICSI is suggested when there is a slow sperm count or abnormally shaped sperm. It is also feasible for couples who don’t want to opt for a male donor and reproduce a baby with their own sperm.

What’s the Process?

The process involves the production of several matured eggs. It majorly involves 5 steps to complete the process such as:

Ovaries stimulation

Injectable medications are necessary for around 8 to 14 days to complete the process of stimulating the ovaries and induce egg production. It would be best to visit 7 to 8 times so the Nimaaya IVF center can monitor your cycle’s progress and suggest medication accordingly.

Finally, a trigger injection is given to you that will be human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) or buserelin trigger depending upon individual simulation results.

The injection is given to complete the maturation process and set ovulation in motion.

Retrieval of Eggs

The process takes about 20 – 30 minutes to complete it. During the procedure, the man must produce a sperm sample by ejaculating into a cup, or the sperm will be surgically retrieved.
Eggs will also be harvested from the woman’s ovaries using a single needle and ultrasound probe.

Fertilization

After the egg retrieval, the experts inject one sperm into each matured egg.

Development of Embryo

The embryo’s development will be initiated by placing it in embryo scopes to help them develop without getting disturbed. It will go under severe examination for 5 to 6 days. The progress is observed when 2 to 4-cell embryos get 6 to 8-cell embryos.

Transfer of Embryo

We saw that if an embryo reaches 8 cells, one or two embryos are transferred to the woman’s womb using an ultrasound-guided catheter. This process might take place after 2 to 5 days after fertilization. Remember, only those embryos will be transferred that are healthy.

Pregnancy Test

After two weeks of embryo transfer, you can perform a pregnancy test. For the next 24 hours, you will be asked to rest properly.
